Babies hold so much promise for those that love them. They represent hope, innocence, and infinite possibility. When a baby dies, the result is utter devastation. The loss is characterized by intense grief, emotional distress, and feelings of guilt and anger, that can cause significant disruptions in all areas of life. Yet, like so many losses, we are expected to carry on. Often, there are still children that need tending and many around us may not understand the overwhelming stress. Back for a third TTT, Jillian will guide us through the most difficult experiences life has to offer with warmth, kindness and empathy.
Jillian Phillips, LICSW is the New Americans Coordinator for Worcester, MA located at the Friendly House. She is also a mom and a survivor of infant loss. Her own experiences of trauma coupled with her social work background allow her to consider the totality of human suffering as she supports our new arrivals. It is her hope that our community continues to recognize the valuable contributions of this population and the trauma they have endured in search of a better life. She will offer her wisdom in support of others who have experienced unimaginable despair.
